How it all began

I’m Halima—a Chef, Health Coach, Holistic Nutritionist, and Detox Specialist with over 20 years in the food industry. 

Food has always been my passion, but my approach to health and nutrition wasn’t always what it is today. My own personal health journey challenged me to rethink everything, leading me to a more holistic, science-based way of living. Now, I help others find clarity on their path to well-being.

My goal is simple: to make healthy living feel natural, practical, and sustainable—something you can integrate into your everyday life with ease.

WHAT STARTED AS A VISION - A GLIMMER IN ITS FOUNDER’S EYE, BECAME A REALITY IN MAY 2015 WHEN TAILORED TASTE WAS CREATED BY HALIMA FERREIRA.

Food has always been a part of who I am. Growing up in Southern Africa, cooking was at the heart of my family life and shaped my journey. In many Portuguese households, food is more than just a meal—it’s a tradition, a celebration, and a way of showing love. I have vivid memories of spending time in the kitchen with my family, creating aromatic, traditional dishes that were made with care and shared with joy.

After graduating from culinary school, I found myself reflecting on where my true passions lay. It became clear that my love for food was always intertwined with a deeper commitment to health and well-being—leading me to pursue a path that blends both.

My father was a guiding light in my life, and his belief in me shaped who I am today. He taught me the power of example—how the way you live your life can inspire others, especially those you love. His unwavering support was a constant source of strength, and it was because of him that I followed my passion for cooking and decided to attend culinary school. 

The pride he had in me when I completed my  Culinary Diploma was beyond words, and even though he passed away soon after, his faith in me never left. It was as if he passed on a piece of himself, a deep belief that I could do anything I set my mind to, and that has stayed with me every day since.

I carry my father's memory in everything I do. Every dish I create, every client I serve, I do it with the same dedication and love he showed me. His encouragement continues to fuel my journey, and I am forever grateful for the strength he gave me. His belief in me was the greatest gift, and it’s a gift I strive to honour with every step I take in my career.

My culinary journey has been an adventure beyond anything I could have imagined. Fresh out of culinary school, I packed my bags and set off to explore the world—Europe first, then Asia to Alaska, Tokyo, Bahrain, and so many places in between.

Every destination shaped me, every kitchen taught me something new, and every challenge pushed me to grow, not just as a chef but as a person.

One of the most unforgettable moments was working under Michel Roux Senior aboard Celebrity’s Millennium cruise ship in the Olympic restaurant. It was an experience that refined my skills, tested my limits, and reinforced my love for the craft. From there, my path led me to Bahrain, where I had the incredible opportunity to serve as a private chef for an ultra-high net worth family—one of the biggest milestones of my career at the time.

But no matter where I worked or how many dreams I checked off, one thing remained constant: my desire to create something that was truly mine. That dream became Tailored Taste—a reflection of everything I’ve learned, everything I love, and everything I believe food should be.

For me, every meal should be an experience—delicious, nourishing, and crafted with care. Food has the power to bring joy, to heal, to connect, and I pour my heart into making that a reality for my clients. Tailored Taste isn’t just about cooking—it’s about creating something deeply personal for the people I serve. And that, for me, is the greatest dream of all.
